CFP Extends 12 Team Playoff for 2026 Season

CFP EXTENDS 12 TEAM PLAYOFF FORMAT FOR 2026 SEASON

Tampa, FL- The ReliaQuest Bowl welcomes the announcement today from the College Football Playoff Committee that the twelve team post season format will continue for the 2026 college football season.

"We are pleased with the news that the CFP has finalized their decision regarding the format for the 2026 season," stated ReliaQuest Bowl President and CEO Jim McVay. "This decision will allow the ReliaQuest Bowl to move forward with planning for the 2026 game. The bowl will continue to positively impact the Tampa Bay region through generating tens of millions of dollars in economic impact, valuable national and international exposure and significant contributions to local non-profit organizations."
